Hineleban and Unifrutti ink partnership in Dutch-financed CDO River Basin Project.
[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Prompted by the severe flooding and devastation caused in Cagayan de Oro (CDO) and parts of Bukidnon in Northern Mindanao by Typhoon Sendong and other storms in recent years, Unifrutti and MKAVI signed an agreement with Hineleban to implement the project titled ”RIDGE TO COAST, RAIN TO TAP”. The project, seen as a public-private partnership, is part of a multistakehokder collaboration comprising the CDO River Basin Management Council, Wetlands International, CdO Water District, VEI, the Netherlands and Philippines Red Cross Agencies and FRRL. The project, with funding support from the Sustainable Water Fund of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will support both upstream and downstream activities to mitigate against erosion and flooding and help provide safe and clean drinking water to consumers in CDO city. Hineleban will work upstream for implementing reforestation efforts through the provision of livelihood activities for indigenous tribes – the original custodians of the forest – living in and around the ranges of Mt. Kitanglad and Mt. Kalatungan in Bukidnon. The total cost of the project is estimated at about Euro 6 million, with 50% coming in the form of subsidy from the Netherlands and the other 50% in the form of counterpart from each of the partners for their respective components of the project. The project duration is for 5 years: 2018 – 2022.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”3341″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_shadow_border” css_animation=”fadeIn”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
